Product Description

Winner of the Bram Stoker Award for Best First Novel From a master of horror comes an apocalyptic showdown between the residents of a secluded, rural town and the deadly evil that confronts them wherever they turn. Evil doesn't die. The cozy little town of Pine Deep buried the horrors of its past a long time ago. Thirty years have gone by since the darkness descended and the Black Harvest began, a time when a serial killer sheared a bloody swath through the quiet Pennsylvania village. The evil that once coursed through Pine Deep has been replaced by cheerful tourists getting ready to enjoy the country's largest Halloween celebration in what is now called ''The Spookiest Town in America.'' It just grows stronger. But then--a month before Halloween--it begins. Unspeakably desecrated bodies. Inexplicable insanity. And an ancient evil walking the streets, drawing in those who would fall to their own demons and seeking to shred the very soul of this rapidly fracturing community. Yes, the residents of Pine Deep have drawn together and faced a killer before. But this time, evil has many faces--and the lust and will to rule the earth. This struggle will be epic.

Ghost Road Blues by author Jonathan Maberry is a top notch total package sure to deliver a whopping dose of fright to even the most seasoned horror fan!The intriguing cover art captured my attention and the cool sounding, catchy title ensured the book a place in my shopping basket. Little did I know that I was in for one hell of a ride. From the moment I started reading this book I was transported to the little town of Pine Deep by the author's uncommonly satisfying, descriptive style of writing. His character development is superb, multi dementional and in depth to where these people become real and you feel you've known them for years. No bland steriotypes, no empty shells, just real people, which in my opinion, kicks the scare factor in this book up several notches since some of the charaters are pretty darned evil.I've worked in health care for many years and have seen sights that would make some people's stomach suddenly empty. Blood, guts and gore don't scare me. Maberry's masterpiece: Ghost Road Blues doesn't rely on blood, guts and gore to deliver it's frights as you'd think a first time author would. Although there are healthy doses of that, Maberry superceds with a captivating, frightfully delicious smorgasbord sure to make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up.... and cause you to sleep with the lights on.Bravo! I give five stars, two thumbs up, and a standing ovation to Jonathan Maberry's Ghost Road Blues. I've recommended this book to several people at work, and those that have read it so far have thanked me.The bad thing about finishing a really good book is that's it, it's over, but the good news is Ghost Road Blues is the first of a trilogy, so like a kid on Christmas Eve, I (and many of the horror fans at work) eagerly await the next book by Maberry, to see what evil treats lurk inside that package. The book is great, the writing: exceptional, the story: captivating, the price: very affordable. If you were waiting for my recommendation to buy it, you've got it... Whole-heartedly!Make room on that pedestal Stephen King, there's a new kid on the block... and Oh Boy, he's good!!
