Classic, timeless, beautifully produced, 'The History of the Book in 100 Books' shows us the footprints of time in our collective mind. It's a revelation and a joy. My only personal preference is that the Book Art of Julie Chen better represents the Book Art mode of visual, verbal, spatial, tactile communication, than the example you have given. That is a small part of a wonderful contribution. All honour to the team and thank you.ExcelenteNice book that offers a look at interesting and unique parts of our history. Great gift for a book person.Great book for the history of printing.A well-selected list that covers all the bases of historical bibliography.Wonderful book for those of us who love books and are interested in their history. Great addition to my collection!Perfect gift for bibliophile Dad!Very interesting book for anyone who loves books.I’m a lover of books so I’m biased. This is beautifully produced and illustrated. In particular I loved the two page format; a description of the text on one page and a relevant illustration on the facing page. This makes it eminently suitable for browsing; pick it up and read one or two articles and be rewarded in a few minutes. Another advantage is that unlike a number of similar works, it spans the development of the book right from the start and across all civilizations, particularly texts from the ancient East. While it is a “history” book, I was delighted to note that this text appreciates that the world of books has a living history. In addition, this book is living proof, if any be needed, that the Kindle will never equal such as this from an aesthetical point of view. Some say it’s a table-top book. No; this indeed is a thing of beauty and it comes alive when you take it up and read it.This is a beautifully illustrated and informative book. A great coffee table book for anyone, and very useful for those interested in the history of books and reading. Not the easiest read!Very goodGreat coffee-table book.... fascinating history nicely illustrated - and I really learned some interesting things... some quite surprising. A good book divided into short sections and great for browsing.
