this book is just wonderful. simple stories that interest little ones. bright colorful pictures that are fun for them to grasp fully what the story is saying. all have a farm theme, with the same handful of characters.. each story starts out the same and goes from there.. not really a lesson learned type book, but nice clean generally happy stories of their life together. the way the book is layed out is on top of the page you have a simple sentence telling basically what is going on ( which if you have a beginner reader this is what they could handle ) then on the bottom of the page the story goes into a little more detail. i have a 3 year old boy that loves farm life, tractors etc.. but i think even a girl would love this book. there are many stories in the book, and each one a good length to hold their attention. on every page there is a bonus too for little ones to try to find the hidden yellow duckie amist the pictures.. my son really does enjoy this book, and i do too. it's held up well, hardbound covered and pages are pretty thick for youngsters to not tear the pages so easily.. i'd buy again.hi. it's now 2013, 3 years since i got this book for my 3 year old.. he is now 6! and this book is still one of his favorites!! this book is just wonderful. no characters fighting, just happy little stories about a little boy and girls adventures with farm life, whether it be with a naughty little sheep that eats the flowers or the tractor crashing into the pond. my 6 year old loves reading this book - by himself!! i do believe it is a great book for helping little ones to read. it's broken down into the top of the page being for beginner readers and the bottom of the page for a little more advanced. it's nice because it uses a lot of the same words througout the book, so word recognition sets in and helps them remember it for next time. my son is 6, in kindergarten and reads at a second grade level, and i think it is due to books of this style. super cute stories, geared for them, with cute pictures to help tell the story.. and of course my son loves to try to find the hidden ducky on every page as he reads it. and fun bonus :) i am so glad i bought this book many years ago, we have gotten every penny out of it. it has held up well, no ripped pages, but the binding does show wear from much use.
