Edmond's Cookery Book is the gold standard for New Zealand recipes. My grandmother (who is from New Zealand) requested steamed pudding for Christmas and when I asked her what the recipe was she said, "Look in Edmond's cookbook." But I didn't have an Edmond's cookbook. But now I do. We've made the steamed pudding recipe which was very tasty as well as the custard. I look forward to making more recipes that are in the book.My favorites are the scones recipes but many of the baked goods take me back to when I was a child eating steamed puddings, cakes, and breads that were simple, quick-to-prepare, and not overly sweet.A taste of New Zealand that every kiwi needs in their home. I was hoping to get an original copy from the 60s or 70s but this works.A Basic Staple in every New Zealander’s kitchen! We were amazed at all the wonderful foods prepared by New Zealanders. A hidden treasure on these magical islands!Have always loved the tried and true recipes in this book. Especially since I live away from home now.I have had so much fun with this little book already, trying out recipes I had only read of til now, i.e., pavlova. Can't wait to try more! When I lived in NZ, I worked at a cafe-ish place and we used this book constantly for cooking.I'm happy to have the recipes for all the Kiwi goodies I loved!I paid $12 for this copy, and received it with a $1.50 sale sticker on it. The back cover of the spiral book was also missing and isn't holding up well!Great old time cookery book arrived on timeFabulous little recipe book, simple to use and basic ingredients that produce lovely meals.Item as described. Thank youThis book has some excellent recipes, especially for cakes, which my family greatly enjoys. However, it uses a variety of measuring system within each recipe, which makes it very difficult to follow. For example, you will be told to find 2 cups of flour, 125g of sugar and a tsp of something else. There are explanations at the front of how much a cup is, but not for all items. e.g. I need 2 cups of bananas, but I don't know what that is. So it's definitely for New Zealnders with a full set of NZ cups, and for mathematicians who enjoy a challenge while cooking! If you work it out, the results are worth it!
