Millennia ago, mankind fled the earth’s surface into the bottomless depths of the darkest oceans. Shielded from a merciless sun’s scorching radiation, the human race tried to stave off certain extinction by sending robotic probes far into the galaxy, to search for a new home among the stars. Generations later, one family is about to be torn apart, in a conflict that will usher in the final race to save humanity from a world beyond hope.Dive into this aquatic fantasy like none you’ve ever seen before in this oversized hardcover, packed to the gills with concept art, design sketches, original script and more hidden trasures, as writer Rick Remender (Deadly Class, Seven to Eternity) and artist Greg Tocchini (Last Days of American Crime) bring you a tale mankind’s final hour in the cold, deathly dark of the sea.Collects LOW #1-15
The size of this book is extremely satisfying. The paper is thick and high quality, with a nice sewn binding. Feels very reliable.Tocchini's art is creatively inspired, and McCaig's coloring is brilliant and perfect for this book. It's mesmerizing and beautiful page after page. Sensual even. It's one of Remender's best stories yet, and one of the most heartbreaking experiences in recent comic book memory. The main characters' dilemma, their struggle between pessimism and optimism, is well thought out, relatable, and worth turning over and thinking through. And the world these creators built I regard as some of the absolute best world building in any art media anywhere in the world today. Without spoiling anything, Remender grew this concept from the fact that the sun will eventually explode, asking "what will humans do when that reality gets close?". Highly compelling material.
